Baked French Toast Breakfast

Serves 8

Who loves French toast for breakfast?

Ingredients:

8 slices Texas Toast
8 eggs
2 cups milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
3/4 cup butter
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons dark corn syrup

Directions:

  1. Grease a large baking dish with cooking spray. Layer bread on the bottom of dish.
  2. Beat together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon and ground cloves in a mixing bowl. Pour mixture over bread, cover and refrigerate overnight.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350° F. Take the baking dish out of refrigerator 30 minutes before baking.
  4. Combine butter, sugar and syrup in a pan, bring to medium heat. Stir often and turn heat off until just boiling. Pour butter mixture over bread.
  5. Place baking dish in oven and bake for 35-45 minutes. Until golden brown on top.
Course: Breakfast, brunch
