Spicy Slow Cooker Black Eyed Peas

Serves 10 | 


6 cups water
1 cube chicken bouillon
1 lb. black-eyed peas, rinsed
1 onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, diced
1 red bell pepper, stemmed seeded and diced
8 oz. ham, diced
4 slices bacon
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons cumin
Salt, to taste
1 teaspoon black pepper


  1. Pour water into slow cooker. Add bouillon cube to water and stir to dissolve.
  2. Add black-eyed peas, onion, garlic, red bell pepper, ham, bacon, cayenne pepper, cumin, salt and pepper to slow cooker. Stir ingredients together.
  3. Place cover on slow cooker. Turn heat to low and cook for 6-8 hours (beans should be tender).
