French Onion Steak Sandwiches

Serves 4

A homemade restaurant quality sandwich.

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons butter
4 beef cubed steaks
1 onion, sliced and separated into rings
1 cup beef broth
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
4 slices French bread, toasted
2 slices Swiss cheese, halved

Directions:

  1. Melt margarine in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add steaks; cooking for 2-3 minutes per side. Remove from skillet, leaving drippings in pan.
  2. Cook onion in drippings until tender.
  3. Combine broth, cornstarch, Worcestershire, garlic powder and a dash of pepper. Add to skillet. Cook and stir until bubbly, then an additional 2 minutes.
  4. Place steaks on bread. Top with cheese and onion mixture.
Course: Dinner
